Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry

the head banging continues.  Instead of Conficker I have the lovely 2 trojans called Virtumonde and Right Media.  Right Media apparently came in from viewing a page that had an ad on it that just popped into my computer without clicking on it.

Whoever came up with either one I hope you die and go to hell.  (I'm serious) BUT really GET A REAL JOB!

I highly recommend Avast Anti-virus software. They have a free version which I've been using for months and it's brilliant!

This bugger got past Norton and I didn't realize what was going on when Spybot found it. In the future I will look up what it is finding rather than let it go 2+ months. Norton finally got enough to sniff and got rid of the Right Media one yesterday.
Mom and Dad have the Avast and didn't care for it. The other suggestion from geeks around here is AVG which also has a free one.

This Virtumonde has now taken out 6 computers of my co-workers. Problem with this virus is that it is a mutater and is slowly taking down all parts of my computer. Not crying Uncle yet, but if it doesn't fix by Wed I sure will.

AVG _had_ a free one. I had it for years, until they decided not to continue upgrading it and I started getting anoying messagages about it being out of date. So we got Avast. It works well.

We've had several computer professionals tell us not to bother with Norton, as it's not worth the money.

and from just looking at their website, Norton seems to think the same. Oh, why should we care about this. Um cause I'm going to drop your sorry butt. The honey has AVG free and it uploaded a big update last week. His computer was slow before cause it has no RAM. One of the girls at work had Avast and it didn't catch it either. She's now in the same boat and the McAfee she just downloaded is in the Virtumonde shell and ineffective.

I've found a less invasive approach this am on this tuneup advisor website. Still not 100% it will do anything, but it is worth a try before I redo all the deep down dirty stuff again. It just bugs me that it goes out to the web to find out what is looking for it and makes it's everything ineffective. Still think they should burn in hell though.

We have a Kapersky disc that has another available license on it. Would you like it?

got my arsenal ready to try again tonight. Apparently the virus is a mutater that changes each time you reboot/turn on. It also finds out which programs are coming after it with each time you log on to the internet. So the best suggestion was to rename the programs when you load them onto your desktop. I'm taking it one further and loaded them from works PC and gave them different names then. Its so wonked that I think it even mucked the safe mode. Soooo tempted to drop it off at Best Buy if it didn't cost 200$ just for virus cleaning. But I haven't cried UNCLE yet. Just getting my wooden stake ready to kill this vampire.
